Randall has twelve brothers and sisters, all of which can either sing and/or play one or more musical instruments. Both of my parents were raised in a Christian home, were taught about the Lord and sang the hymns of the church. In turn, they instilled the same values and principles in me.
As early as I can remember, I have been banging and beating on tables, pots, pans and anything that was available to keep a beat on, while my dad played music. At the age of twelve years old, I was given my first set of drums and started playing with my dad's band which primarily played country, and 50's/ 60's rock. As I grew older, I also learned to play the guitar and bass guitar; but singing was never a desire.
Although I played country, southern rock and 50's/60's rock, southern gospel music has always been a big influence in my life. I grew up around traditional male quartets, family groups, and mixed groups in such places as church, all night singings with Randy Rivers, and gospel music restaurants including Buckner's Music Hall and the Joyful Noise.
At age sixteen, I was the original drummer for our family gospel group, The Victory Express. This group was made up of my dad, Randall; my uncle, Kendall; my aunt, Connie; my cousin, Bo; and a family friend, Terry Watkins.
After leaving The Victory Express, I started playing music in church. While attending McDonough Assembly of God in McDonough, Ga.,in 1986, I met my future wife Stacey, and on August 5, 1989, we were married. In 1992, we added a daughter, Rayshell Lee, and in 1999, we added a son, Randall Skot.
In 1995, I became the music director for Hampton Church of God , in Hampton Ga., the very same church I attended as a young child. It was there that God gave me the desire and placed the call upon my life to sing. By early 1997, the ground work was being laid for what would become Crimson River.
Today, I am still doing what God has called me to do, and only by His grace, mercy, and guidance, will I continue to fulfill His purpose in my life, for many years to come, or until His return!
Drop me a line and tell me about you!
I was born on November 22, 1968, in Rockdale County, Georgia. Born to Randall and Jannice Callihan, I come from a family that is very musically inclined. My dad, Randall Callihan, was a musician/singer and made his living playing music in various bands, most of which were made up of his brothers.
